Site Notes from Carol de Giere

When I was young, my mother shared her love of musicals with me. She bought vinyl records for shows like South Pacific and The Pajama Game, and played them often.

My affection for the genre grew stronger while I was writing the Stephen Schwartz biography Defying Gravity. During that period, I discovered the world of musical making. I attended many ASCAP Foundation musical theatre workshops, lead by Stephen Schwartz, and other readings of new musicals.

I absorbed some of Stephen Schwartz's own interest in addressing the concerns of new writers of musicals, in the creating of original musical books, music, and lyrics.

I developed this site to provide useful resources in the form of recommended books, recordings, and printed music, newsletter, and tips.
