One of the most popular aspects of MusicalWriters Academy is our monthly Writer Groups, which are included free with membership. These groups meet remotely and allow you to share your work and receive peer and professional feedback. We also have the Academy Reading Series, where you can submit your show, participate in Pitch Night, and receive a free staged reading by our strong network of talent, industry pros, and partner theatres.

What our members have to say…

“The classes are extremely well constructed and valuable. I find practical information I didn’t even learn in graduate school that comes from established industry professionals. MusicalWriters Academy is the perfect platform on which to build my community of theatre peeps. After all, theatre by nature is a group activity. MusicalWriters provides me with a tribe.”

Informative website, a positive environment for creatives, and great people running this site. Recommend!

Stephen Hoover

Screenwriter, Attorney, Louisiana

I love the camaraderie. The solidarity. The kindness between people. It’s not a competition, or if it is it’s like we’re all on the same team.

Jocelyn Moen

Songwriter, Singer, Librettist, Katoomba, Australia

“I’m a stay-at-home dad in a small midwestern city.  In the last 6 months, I’ve attended calls with industry professionals, met monthly with a Writer’s Group, and received a staged reading through the Academy Reading Series, which is the first time I’ve ever seen my work performed outside of a school setting. For folks like me who don’t have established contacts in the industry, Academy is a game-changer.”

Sam Steere

Composer/Lyricist, Illinois

This is my 4th year with Academy and I’m already writing my second musical. MusicalWriters Academy offers a ton of groups, resources, and events that keep me connected and inspired.

Pam Dudley

Book, Lyrics & Music, Texas

“I never feel pressured to participate, but there is always a new topic popping up that inspires me to jump in. It feels like this digital Brigadoon off in a hidden corner of the internet where people are not wound up and ready to flame and argue, but simply want to connect over a shared love of musical theater and encourage each other.”

Michael Kaplan

Book, Lyrics & Melodies, California
