Set in Sicily between 1859 and 1860, The Sparrow follows Maria, a young woman torn between the convent where she was raised, the family that both shelters and confines her, and the call of the world outside: the beauty of Creation, the stirrings of love, and the promise of a life she has never been allowed to choose.

I envision a score blending classical and contemporary—lyrical and dramatic, with solemn Latin interludes and lighter moments when the story allows.

I’m seeking a composer/lyricist to shape this world with me, collaborating closely on both score and libretto. The partnership will be under contract, with shared authorship and a small financial contribution.
