ĭmáGen is a unique educational collaboration between MSU Department of Theatre in the College of Arts and Letters and the Institute for Arts & Creativity at Wharton Center and is a unique opportunity to develop your new musical at a Big Ten University.
They are seeking new musicals for a developmental workshop at Michigan State University. The chosen musical will select a creative team according to the needs of the show and may include AEA actors, a director, and others. Alongside the professional creative team established for your show, the rest of the cast will be supported by students.
The focus of ĭmáGen is to educate MSU Theatre students while developing new relationships with professionals in the industry. The creative teams will teach masterclasses during the day and workshop the musical in the evening. In order to fulfill the goals of each writing team during the workshop experience, writers will have the ability to do rewrites as necessary.
Due to the constantly changing effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the details of the project are subject to change. Elements that could be affected by these changes may include, but are not limited to honorariums, rehearsal/performance logistics, cast/band size etc. In order to follow all current guidelines, set by local and state health officials, the two-week developmental workshop could be in person or online.
- If the work is not original, you must be prepared to show proof that you have acquired the underlying rights or that the source material is in public domain.
- All writers must be age 18 or over.
- Ideal cast size: 20-30. Ideal Band size: 3-5.
