“Rebecca’s incredible skillset as a music director, producer, creative, coach, encourager, and just all-around amazing human made bringing her on board a no-brainer…. I have full confidence in her vision and capability to take MusicalWriters into the future, using that determination, creativity and wisdom to help writers and new works succeed.”

MusicalWriters.com, the go-to online community and resource hub for musical writers and producers, announced a pivotal transition in its leadership at the 2nd MusicalWriters Festival in July in Fort Worth. Holly Reed, who has been at the helm as Owner and CEO since 2017, will pass the baton to Rebecca Lowrey effective August 1st.

Lowrey has served as MusicalWriter’s Producing Director for the past two years, organizing over 15 staged readings of brand new musicals and 25 table reads for writers all over the world. She is passionate about creating new works and brings a wealth of experience as a producer, director, and coach.

Reed shares her confidence in Rebecca’s abilities: “Rebecca’s incredible skillset as a music director, producer, creative, coach, encourager, and just all-around amazing human made bringing her on board a no-brainer. I have trusted her completely in every aspect of her leadership and always knew anything she touched was going to be done at 200%. She is a force, a champion, a joy and a rock. I have full confidence in her vision and capability to take MusicalWriters into the future, using that determination, creativity and wisdom to help writers and new works succeed.”

Lowrey has big plans for putting Dallas/Fort Worth on the map as a vibrant hub for new musical creation and development. She believes that the power of storytelling through music knows no bounds, and it’s time to decentralize the notion that Broadway and New York City hold the monopoly on musical theatre greatness. “I am committed to providing support and encouragement to writers everywhere, especially those who have been overlooked or unheard in the traditional theatre scene,” says Lowrey.

Holly Reed acquired MusicalWriters.com from founder and mentor, Carol de Giere and transformed it into a modern and welcoming platform for writers and producers of new musicals. Reed’s tenure saw the creation of the MusicalWriters Academy, providing members with masterclasses, networking, group coaching, and exclusive development opportunities. One of MusicalWriter’s Academy members recently commented, “[Holly is] blazing a trail through a very thick and wooded forest. We have the benefit of following behind through a clear and well-marked path.”

As Rebecca steps into her new role, Holly will pivot her focus to the development of her show, “True North: A Magical New Holiday Musical,” and continue as CEO of her design and marketing company, Reed Creative Group. Holly confessed, “Neither my muse—nor my personality—gives me the luxury of a break,” indicating that she has other creative and business endeavors on the horizon.
